What’s better than an addition to your party that looks great and tastes even better?! We loved collaborating with Papabubble (http://www.papabubbleny.com/) on some custom candy that both kids and adults enjoyed. Check out their fun and colorful candy rings and customizable pieces – they can even make candy at your event. In the first photo, we worked with them to create a tea party set that was completely made out of candy and entirely edible!

Guest Restrooms

I hope all of you that entertained this weekend had a successful, fun time! When having guests, there are certain items I always stock up on. I’m a firm believer that guest restrooms (whether they be in your home or at a venue) should have nice products. Pump soap and hand lotion, good quality linen-like paper hand towels and a scented candle – ALL A MUST!

They have great packaging and are relatively inexpensive (soaps start at $14 per bottle) My favorite scents their are fig, orange and lavender.

Aesop is a higher-end apothecary-style beauty brand from Australia that uses plant-based ingredients. My favorite products are their Geranium Leaf Hand Soap and Body Balm.

Fun with Save-the-Dates!

Save-the-dates are a time to have fun! They do not have to match your invitation or carry the same formality. They can be more whimsical and creative in terms of style and paper selection. Here are a few of the fun, customized save-the-dates we’ve designed for our clients.

Below is a travel trunk save-the-date we designed for a birthday party where the guests had to travel internationally. The inspiration came from the client’s favorite designer, Hermes.

(Below) These clients had many out of town guests flying in for their wedding. The design was inspired by the vintage Pan-Am advertising and airline tickets.

(Below) This couple was from New York City, so we photoshoped their names and the date on a simple black and white photo of a NYC taxi cab. Pictured is their entire paper line – as you can see, the save the date does not match the formal wedding invitation. We also had fun with their escort cards (origami dinosaurs!)

Below is an paper set that we designed for clients who were hosting their wedding at the Four Seasons Restaurant in NY. They really adored the architecture of the Seagrams Building, thus we used that as the inspiration for the save-the-date. Both of their names began with S, so we created an SS monogram that was used throughout their paper line.

Outdoor Summer Parties

It’s hard not to get excited about summer parties with the beautiful weather we’ve been having! We had two great parties last year that incorporated food into the table décor - a fantastic clambake with lots of great seafood to share, presented in a large plexi box in the center of the dining table – and a more rustic, yet sophisticated, outdoor dinner on farm tables with colorful tomatoes down the center. Incorporating food – whether it be seafood, tomatoes, grapes, figs, lemons – into your table décor is a great way to enhance the design and keep the elements on the table fun, approachable and even interactive.

Beautiful Bouquets

I’ve always been a fan of simple bridal bouquets. Your bouquet is meant to accent you and your dress, not outshine you.

One of my most beloved bouquets is classic Lily of the Valley. It is simple, yet elegant and traditional. Grace Kelly and Kate Middleton (pictured below) among others, carried Lily of the Valley on their wedding days.

Here is a lily of the valley bouquet that we created for one of our brides.

A more unique bouquet that is another one of my all-time favorites is the couture rose. For this bouquet, we wire individual rose petals around a single white rose to create an oversized rose. It takes A LOT of time but it is well worth it!

Help Yourself!

It’s definitely a treat when you can have someone serving food and drinks at your party, but that can’t always be the case. Here are two ideas for providing drinks for your guests that will allow them to help themselves.

Set up a bar for your favorite drink (Caipirinha, Margarita, Sangria) – with the drink in an infusion jar, plenty of glassware and ice, and some fresh fruit to top it off.

Have drinks and several juices/sodas on the table so people can mix their own drink – be sure to have the appropriate glassware at each place setting!

Complete the look of your drinks with some fun straws or stirrers in mason jars or unexpected glassware.

Stylish Home Entertaining on the Today Show

This morning I filmed a fun segment on the Today Show demonstrating how anyone can throw a stylish and sophisticated dinner party at home. We discussed mixing and matching plates, silverware and glassware, the dramatic effect of reflecting candlelight off glass, and how to create “tablescapes” instead of centerpieces. Amalfi Coasting

This summer we had the great honor of planning and designing a truly incredible 4-day event along the Amalfi Coast. Our challenge – creating 4 very unique days, each one different and more mind-blowing than the next. And of course, event design is never easy when access to each venue is a long, narrow walking street up a steep hill! Our home base was Ravello, one of the most beautiful towns in the word. It sits a kilometer above the Mediterranean Sea with each view more spectacular than the next. If you haven’t been there, book now for next summer!
